Packaging & Recycling Policy

Last updated: September 1, 2026

We design our packaging to be kept and reused first, and recycled at the end of its life. Here is what each part is made of, and how to dispose of it responsibly.

Our packaging principles

  • Reuse before recycle: our signature metal tin is built to last and to be refilled or repurposed.
  • Recyclable materials: we favour metal and paper, which are widely accepted in curbside recycling.
  • Less plastic: we minimise single-use plastic and avoid unnecessary layers.
  • Responsible printing: postcards use responsibly sourced paper and vegetable-based inks.

The metal tin

Our collectible tin is endlessly reusable — for treats, keepsakes, craft supplies or small storage. If you ever choose to part with it, empty and rinse it, then place it in your metal/aluminium recycling. Metal can be recycled repeatedly without losing quality.

The postcards and paper

Gourmet postcards and paper inserts are recyclable with household paper and cardboard. Keep them on your fridge as long as you like — they’re made to be collected — then recycle them flat and clean.

Inner freshness packaging

To keep treats fresh and safe, the inner pouch may use food-grade material that is not always curbside-recyclable in every municipality. Please check your local guidelines; where in doubt, place it in general waste. We are actively working toward fully recyclable or compostable alternatives.

Shipping materials

Shipping boxes are cardboard and recyclable. Any paper void-fill can be recycled or reused. Please flatten boxes before recycling.

A quick guide

  • Metal tin → reuse, or metal recycling.
  • Postcards, paper inserts, shipping box → paper/cardboard recycling.
  • Inner freshness pouch → check local rules; general waste if unsure.

Our commitment

Reducing packaging impact is a journey, not a checkbox. As we grow, we will keep cutting waste, improving materials, and being transparent about our progress. Questions or ideas? Write to info@petgrination.com.
