R&D · The science of flavor

The art & science of aromatisation

Our companions carry a gift we can only dream of: a sense of smell measured in the hundreds of millions of receptors. So we stopped treating flavor as an afterthought and started treating it as haute couture — composing the most complex, human-inspired palatants ever created for cats and dogs.

We don’t just feed animals. We compose olfactory memories.

le Nez

The Nose

Kali G.

Perfumer turned pet-food “Nose”

“I went from the perfumer’s organ to the starred food bowl. The mission never changed: create emotion through the senses.”

After a career composing fragrances for luxury perfumery, our founder turned that trained nose toward a nobler challenge — elevating pet food to the level of an olfactory art.

Because our companions deserve more than a beige, monotonous kibble. They deserve a sensory experience worthy of their extraordinary senses — and worthy of the table we set for ourselves.

Why it matters

They live in a universe made of scent

A dog perceives umami the way we perceive a spellbinding oud. A cat can pick out the thiol note of tuna from three metres away. Where we count roughly 5 million olfactory receptors, they count hundreds of millions. Flavor, for them, is not a detail — it is the whole language.

The composition

A flavor built in three acts

Exactly like a grand perfume, each recipe is written in three movements — calibrated to a nose that reads a bowl the way we read a room.

1

Top notes

The call

Grilled poultry, green citrus — the bright, volatile burst that summons appetite in a fraction of a second, like a beautiful sillage.

2

Heart notes

The soul

Reduced veal stock, freeze-dried black truffle — the deep, savoury umami core. Their equivalent of a Jasmine Sambac absolute.

3

Base notes

The memory

Vegetal musks, damp earth — the primal, lingering trail that stirs a wild nostalgia and stays on the muzzle long after.

Aroma release, mapped

How the three movements unfold from the first sniff to the lingering finish.

Techniques no treat was ever supposed to have

01

CO₂ extraction

Our aromas are extracted exclusively with supercritical CO₂ — the same method used for the most fragile fine-fragrance molecules — so nothing precious is cooked away.

02

Layered coating

Like a multi-faceted perfume, each aromatic layer is applied in a precise order, so the full arc of emotion unfolds across the tasting.

03

Dosing in ppm

Compositions are dosed in parts per million, tuned separately for cats and dogs — just enough to send them on a mental culinary journey, never to overwhelm.

For the discerning household

Craft you can smell — and finally live with

Olfactory transparency

No masking agents. What you smell is what’s there — a clean composition, the way a fine fragrance is built.

Human-grade, kitchen-tested

Recipes signed off by multicultural cooks — with a grateful nod to Montréal street food.

No more “dog-food” smell

The end of that pet-food odour in your kitchen. A boutique experience, from the bag to the bowl.

“A food must move them before it feeds them.”

The house standard, in every recipe

  • CO₂-extracted natural aromas
  • Cat- and dog-specific compositions
  • No artificial flavors or colors
  • Grain-free, oven-baked, human-grade
  • B.R.C.G.S. food-safety facilities
  • Traceable, recognisable ingredients
